Arbitration

Justin is available to sit as an arbitrator or member of a tribunal, whether in a domestic or international commercial arbitration, as well as appearing as counsel. In addition, Justin is available to act as tribunal secretary in international commercial arbitrations.

Commercial and corporate Law

Justin’s commercial practice encompasses disputes and matters for large international and domestic entities in different industries and sectors, but especially including agribusiness, corporate governance, mining and resources, real estate and tobacco. Justin has advised and appeared in extensive, complex matters in both Australian and overseas jurisdictions.

Administrative Law

Justin has advised and appeared in administrative law matters in federal and State courts, and tribunals. He has acted for claimants, and governments or public bodies. The diversity of matters in which he has worked include immigration and refugee cases, parole, public sector employment, and licensing and tenders.

Foreign and INternational LAW

Justin is briefed regularly in matters involving questions of foreign law, conflicts of laws, and private international law. He has appeared in, and advised with respect to, disputes and matters in jurisdictions other than Australia. Justin is especially well-versed in the laws of New Zealand, Canada, Chinese jurisdictions (PRC, Hong Kong and Taiwan), the South Pacific (Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, and Samoa), and the United Arab Emirates.

Native Title

Justin has regularly advised and appeared on behalf of applicants and representative bodies in native title disputes, and other matters arising under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth). Justin has a thorough and intricate understanding of the complexities of native title, and has acted in relation to claimant applications, indigenous land use agreements, non-claimant applications, and matters arising under the Act involving representative bodies.
